North Lake's proposed Web-based radio station, KBLZ, is on hold. Brought to the drawing board in 2007 by the Student Leadership Institute (SLI), the idea for KBLZ began as a club project. "Every semester we give the students a project that they need to complete," said Adrianne Settles, sponsor of SLI, a club designed to enhance leadership skills and opportunities for students.
Last year I jumped at the chance to make it on North Lake College's Dragon Boat team. We faired below average to say the least. We got beat by everyone including a school of eighth grade Kung Fu kids. The Department of Veterans Affairs is now accepting and processing applications for the Post 9/11 GI Bill, otherwise known as the "21st Century GI Bill." The North Lake College Blazers baseball team was controlling its destiny late in the season looking for a six-game winning streak to keep playoff hopes alive. But it wasn't the strategy the team had hoped for. The Blazers found themselves mid-way through the season with a last potential playoff spot and took the initiative by winning six out of eight games after a slow start.
