Using the nude as the subject, twenty-five artists from the Art Department of North Lake College demonstrate both experiemental and anatomical approaches to the figure in an exhibit at the Imago Dei Gallery at Kathmandu, Nepal.
The drawings represent all levels of student work created in art instructor Chris Fulmer’s NLC class, including Fulmer’s.
Those artists are Benjamin Brown, Robert James Seeley, Christopher Gonzalez, Elizabeth Gibson, Elza Guedes, James White, Jiss Kuruvilla, Junko Otsu, Kapil Dixit, Kara Dahl, Laurel Houston, LeAnn Boyce, Li-Yu (Lidia) Chen, Megan Daniel, Michael Myk Taylor, Otgontuul Sanjaa, Pat Hemmert, Rachel Hamilton, Sam Fitzgerald, Sandra Legere, Shirley Griffin, Tricia Lambert and Vinitza Solis.
The exhibit, titled “Literally Figurative,” is composed of nude figures, which were drawn by observing actual models who visited Fulmer’s art class over the past few years.
The exhibit was made possible by a former student, Kapil Dixit, who was an art student at NLC and is now back in his native Nepal.
“This has been a rich and unequaled opportunity for our students to exhibit internationally.,” said Fulmer. “I am very thankful for the hard work of our former student, Kapil Dixit, who made the exhibition a reality by arranging the location and providing the publicity.”
Fulmer had hoped to be at the opening, but the recent snowstorm in Dallas canceled her flight. She has been able to obtain some of the news reports about the opening.
“I am thrilled to share such quality work on an international level,” she said.
